World Book Week 2014 – Stripy Visits!

WBD2014Hello everyone! We hope you all enjoyed World Book Day last week.

A big stripy wave to St Bartholemew’s Primary School in Sydenham (especially Karen Kent), Herne Hill School (thank you to Helen Harrild) and Edmund Waller Primary School in Lewisham (we loved the wonderful Mrs Twit, or perhaps that was Helen Winter?). Three fantastic schools with lots of terrific teachers and super-imaginative children. We had a great time on our visits. You kept us very busy and showed us how good you are at ‘growing and shrinking’, ‘clipping and clopping’ and, most impressively of all, ‘drawing and describing’. Phew! We were exhausted by the end of the week!

And a special thanks to the Tales on Moon Lane Bookshop in Herne Hill for organising our trip there, we’re so glad that they have recovered from the flooding.

After reading ‘Oh No, Monster Tomato!’ here are brilliant drawings of pupils as their own favourite vegetables. Meet Frankie the Chilli, Skye the Carrot, Hana-Rosa the Sweetcorn and Tin Tin the Grape:

And here are some animal characters that the children drew (and described) as friends for Stripy Horse. A ‘werly’, happy, Tortoise, Joe the Top-Hatted Giraffe, Micol the cheeky monkey and Jace the mischievous, toothy tiger!

And finally, here’s one of the teachers at Edmund Waller with Karen’s Stripy Horse drawing. We don’t have a picture of Helen Winter as Mrs Twit, but if she sends us one, we promise to put it up for everyone to see!

We’ll be visiting the Hove Book Festival at Hove Town Hall on Saturday 5th April, so do come along and say hello if you can!
